Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has declared his intention to seek a second term in office, describing himself as a “stubborn politician” who will not be forced out by mounting criticism over insecurity.
Speaking amid growing concerns about the country’s security challenges, Tinubu said his political opponents were attempting to exploit the situation to undermine his administration and push him out of power.
“My enemies want to use insecurity in the country to get rid of me, but I’m a stubborn politician who refuses to go,” the president said.
His remarks come at a time when Nigeria continues to grapple with armed violence, kidnappings and regional instability, issues that have placed increasing pressure on his government.
Tinubu’s statement signals a firm stance ahead of the next election cycle, as he positions himself for a re-election campaign despite criticism from opposition figures and sections of the public.
The comments are likely to further intensify political debate in Africa’s most populous nation, where security and governance remain central to voter concerns.
