Nigerian Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Igboho has stirred renewed controversy after declaring that he resorts to armed force whenever he becomes angry, insisting his actions are neither symbolic nor theatrical.

Speaking in a widely circulated statement, Igboho said his authority is demonstrated through the use of firearms whenever he believes his power is being challenged.

“I always command gun when I get angry. It is not a movie; it’s real. If someone wants to test my power, I show it to the person,” he said.

The remarks have reignited public debate over the rhetoric employed by influential separatist figures, particularly amid ongoing concerns about security, vigilantism and the rule of law in parts of Nigeria.

Authorities had not immediately responded publicly to the statement at the time of reporting.
