Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has launched a blistering attack on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, accusing him of masterminding the terrorism-financing charges brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) against the state’s Commissioner of Finance.

Speaking during a briefing on Tuesday, Governor Mohammed alleged that Wike wielded undue influence over federal institutions and was using them to target his administration.

According to the governor, the FCT Minister had previously threatened to “set fire” to Bauchi State and had been “controlling institutions, bribing people, selling lands, and using the proceeds to carry out his operations”.

“Wike is behind the EFCC terrorism financing charge against my Commissioner of Finance,” Mohammed said. “He is a terrorist. My former Accountant-General, who stole from us, is now working with Wike to stand as a witness in the EFCC’s case.”

The governor further claimed that Wike’s actions were driven by political resentment and a lingering feud dating back to their time together in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“Wike is out to destroy me. He’s a big drag on President Tinubu’s administration. He was an undertaker in the PDP, and I fought him. I was even at the PDP secretariat the day he came to take over. He cannot be in two places at the same time,” he said.

As at the time of filing this report, the FCT Minister had not issued a response to the allegations.
