Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has been accused of being “bullied and subdued” during the six-month emergency rule imposed by President Bola Tinubu. The criticism came from Arise Television’s Morning Show anchor, Rufai Oseni, who took to his social media platform to express his views.

Oseni said, “Fubara is celebrating peace of the graveyard, after he has been bullied and subdued. Peace is better than war he says, play back all his tapes for him.”

The emergency rule, which began in March 2025, was introduced by President Tinubu in response to a political crisis that had paralyzed governance in Rivers State. During this period, Fubara’s powers were suspended, and democratic institutions were frozen, all in a bid to restore order.

Governor Fubara, however, responded in a recent statewide broadcast, urging residents to reflect on the lessons learned from the emergency rule. He said, “The costliest peace is cheaper than the cheapest war.”

He went on to explain his decision to cooperate with the federal government, saying, “I accepted to abide by the state of emergency declaration and chose to cooperate with Mr. President and the National Assembly, guided by my conviction that no sacrifice was too great to secure peace, stability, and progress of Rivers State.”

In his broadcast, Fubara emphasized, “I made the decision to prioritize peace, stability, and progress over all else, despite the pressures to challenge the constitutionality of the emergency rule.”
