The governor of Adamawa State, Umaru Fintiri, has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Lamurde Local Government Area with immediate effect, following rising security concerns in the area.
In a statement issued on Monday, the state government said the measure was taken to restore law and order and prevent further escalation of unrest in the community.
According to the directive, all movement within Lamurde has been restricted for the duration of the curfew, while security agencies have been instructed to ensure strict enforcement and maintain public safety.
Governor Fintiri urged residents to remain calm, cooperate with security personnel, and comply fully with the restriction, stressing that the curfew was necessary to stabilise the situation and protect lives and property.
The government also warned that any individual or group found violating the curfew would face the full weight of the law.
Authorities say the situation will be closely monitored, with further decisions to be taken depending on developments on the ground.
Local officials have appealed to community leaders and residents to support efforts aimed at restoring peace and normalcy in the affected area.
