The Federal Government has deployed a dedicated Passport Intervention Team from the headquarters of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) to the United Kingdom to tackle pending passport applications by Nigerians in the diaspora.
The move is part of efforts to ease the process of obtaining Nigerian passports and address delays affecting applicants in the UK.
The intervention team, drawn from the NIS headquarters, is expected to work with relevant Nigerian diplomatic and consular authorities to accelerate the processing and issuance of outstanding passport applications.
The Federal Government said the deployment underscores its commitment to improving passport services for Nigerians living abroad and ensuring that applications are processed more efficiently.
The intervention is also aimed at streamlining the passport application process, reducing backlogs and improving service delivery to Nigerians in the United Kingdom.
The development comes amid growing efforts by the Nigerian government to reform and modernise passport services, both within the country and across its missions abroad.
Officials said the team would focus on resolving outstanding applications and ensuring that eligible applicants receive their travel documents without unnecessary delays.
