The Federal Government is set to arraign Adeniyi Adeyemi afresh after a Federal High Court in Abuja struck out an eight-count criminal charge against him over alleged forgery and impersonation.

Justice Mohammed Umar struck out the charge on Monday following an application by the Federal Government to terminate the proceedings ahead of Adeyemi’s fresh arraignment before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Adeyemi is the director-general of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), an organisation described in the charge-related report as fictitious.

The decision brings the existing proceedings at the Federal High Court to an end, while paving the way for the government to pursue a fresh case against him at the FCT High Court.

The charges against Adeyemi included allegations of forgery and impersonation. However, the striking out of the case does not, in itself, amount to a determination of the allegations against him.

Further details of the proposed fresh arraignment, including the date and the specific charges to be filed, were not immediately available.
