The two leading candidates in the AMAC chairmanship race have both claimed victory in their respective polling units during Saturday’s FCT Area Council Election, though the margins of their wins differed sharply.
Christopher Maikalangu, the candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC), secured a resounding win at his polling station, garnering 229 votes. His counterpart from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dr. Paul Moses, managed only 15 votes in that unit.
However, Dr. Moses also celebrated a win on his home turf. At his polling unit, he polled 7 votes, defeating Mr. Maikalangu, who received 2 votes.
While both candidates successfully defended their home bases, the overwhelming margin of Mr. Maikalangu’s victory highlights a strong pocket of support for the APC, setting an early tone as results from other wards begin to be collated.
