The FCT Police Command has arrested a man identified as Zazzayanu Halilu for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl inside a car on Oct. 2.
SP Josephine Adeh, spokesperson for the command, said the arrest followed operatives on routine patrol at Airport Bridge Taxi Park who observed a fully tinted navy-blue Volkswagen (registration KMC567LQ) parked with its windows closed while the vehicle was shaking. Suspecting foul play, officers approached and opened the vehicle, only to find the suspect allegedly raping the minor.
Adeh said the suspect was promptly arrested and the victim rescued. Preliminary investigation revealed the suspect had, on several occasions, lured and sexually abused the minor in the same vehicle at that location, threatening to “deal with her” if she revealed the abuse to anyone.
A medical examination revealed the victim is about three months pregnant, reportedly as a result of the alleged abuse. She is currently receiving medical care and assessment, while the suspect remains in police custody and will be charged in court upon conclusion of investigations.
