The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has announced that the newly completed bus and taxi terminals in Abuja will commence operations shortly, following approval from the Federal Executive Council (FEC).

Speaking on Friday in Abuja after an inspection tour of ongoing projects—including the access road to the Mabushi Bus Terminal—Wike confirmed that the FEC, led by President Bola Tinubu, has approved the management of the Mabushi and Kugbo terminals under a public-private partnership (PPP) arrangement.

The terminals were completed and inaugurated in 2025 but remained non-operational due to the need for federal-level approval. Wike explained that the matter exceeded ministerial authority, necessitating FEC ratification.

“We had to go to the FEC, and now the management has been approved. The management team was with me today, and they are putting processes in place to ensure operations begin soon,” Wike said. “Although we have waited this long, the waiting will be over in the next one to three weeks.”

During the inspection, the minister expressed satisfaction with the progress and quality of work on the Mabushi Bus Terminal Road, noting that the road would be inaugurated to mark President Tinubu’s third anniversary in office.

He also commended the delivery of the Arterial Road N1, which connects Wuye District to Ring Road II, expressing optimism that the project would be completed and handed over before the end of the year.

“FCT residents deserve the best, and President Tinubu is doing everything possible to give it to them,” Wike said.
