Five security officers have been detained and are set for prosecution following a joint investigation into the February 12, 2026 security breach at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja.
The probe, conducted by the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), and the Federal Ministry of Aviation, found that the officers allegedly received bribes to facilitate unauthorised access to restricted areas of the airport and obstruct lawful security operations.
Those detained are ASP Ayuba Yakubu (Police), Murtala Inuwa (DSS), Najeeb Murtala (NIS), Musa Adamu (Aviation Security), and Salihu Victor (Aviation Security).
Authorities confirmed that the officers have been handed over to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for prosecution.
Meanwhile, other personnel from the NIS and NCS whose actions were deemed administrative misconduct, but not criminal, will face internal disciplinary measures.
