Former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, has been taken into custody by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) shortly after leaving Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja, following the fulfilment of his bail conditions.

Security sources confirmed that Malami was re-arrested on Friday in connection with a fresh investigation reportedly opened by the DSS after the discovery of arms at his country home in Kebbi State. The weapons were allegedly uncovered during a recent search conducted by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Although details of the items recovered have not been officially disclosed, the development has triggered renewed scrutiny of the former minister, who served as Attorney-General and Minister of Justice under the previous administration.

Sources familiar with the matter said the DSS action is part of a broader security probe distinct from earlier investigations, stressing that Malami is being questioned to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged arms discovery.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the DSS nor the EFCC has issued a formal statement on the arrest. Efforts to reach Malami’s legal team for comment were unsuccessful.

The development adds another twist to the former Attorney-General’s legal troubles and has intensified public attention on ongoing anti-corruption and security-related investigations involving senior former public officials.
