COAS Receives AWCN Course Paper On Indigenous Technology

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Waidi Shaibu, on Thursday received a paper from participants of Army War College Nigeria (AWCN) Course 10/2026 titled “Harnessing Indigenous Technological Innovation for Enhanced Operational Effectiveness of the Nigerian Army.”

The paper was presented by TAO Okundaye on behalf of the course members as part of their academic requirements ahead of graduation. The presentation highlights the college’s emphasis on equipping officers with the strategic knowledge needed to translate national security objectives into effective operations.

Course 10/2026 includes 85 Nigerian Army senior officers, two officers each from the Nigerian Navy and Air Force, and participants from Botswana, Chad, Guinea, Liberia, the Republic of Congo, Cameroon, Ghana and South Africa.

At the course inauguration, the COAS urged participants to adopt progressive thinking, innovation and new knowledge to counter evolving and asymmetric threats. The paper underscored the Nigerian Army’s push to develop adaptive leaders and leverage homegrown technological solutions to close capability gaps and strengthen joint and multi-agency responses to emerging security challenges.
