-Calls for Inclusive Representation and Fairness in Leadership

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ankpa Chapter, has voiced strong opposition to the proposed Muslim-Muslim ticket for the chairmanship position in the forthcoming local government elections.

In a statement released and signed by CAN Cordinator Mr Shaibu A Simon, the association emphasized the critical need for balanced and inclusive governance that reflects the diverse religious demographics of Ankpa Local Government Area.

CAN urged all political stakeholders to uphold principles of fairness, equity, and justice in the electoral process, warning against any move that may marginalize or exclude segments of the community based on religious identity. The association stressed that inclusive leadership is essential to maintaining peace, unity, and sustainable development in the area.

The statement further called on candidates, parties, and community leaders to prioritize dialogue and collaborative decision-making to ensure that the interests of all residents, regardless of faith, are respected and represented.

CAN reaffirmed its commitment to promoting harmony and constructive engagement, underscoring that good governance must reflect the voices and values of the entire community.
