17 Almajiri Students Die in Fire Incident in Kauran Namoda, Zamfara State

At least 17 students of an Almajiri school have lost their lives in a fire outbreak that engulfed their school in Kauran Namoda, Zamfara State.

Intelligence sources told OBSERVERS TIMES that the tragic incident, which occurred on the night of Tuesday lasted for about three hours before it was brought under control.

Several other students sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical attention.

Eyewitnesses described the fire as devastating, noting that efforts to contain it were hampered by its intensity.

Local authorities and emergency responders arrived at the scene to provide assistance, but the inferno had already caused severe casualties.

Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday condoled with parents, guardians, and families who lost loved ones in a fire outbreak that engulfed an Islamic school in Kaura Namoda, Zamfara State, on Tuesday night.

Tinubu conveyed his condolences in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, titled ‘President Tinubu mourns Zamfara Islamic School pupils, says safety should be uppermost to proprietors.’

The fire outbreak at a Tsangaya school (Almajiri school) claimed the lives of 17 children.

Residents say the fire spread when it ignited some stored sticks, known as ‘kara’ in the Hausa Language.

It read, “President Tinubu commiserates with the state government and owners of the school and prays for the quick recovery of those receiving medical attention.

“The President enjoins all public and private schools to prioritise children’s safety and security at all times and directs regulatory authorities in the education sector to ensure compliance with safety standards.”

The President prays that God Almighty will grant eternal rest to the souls of the departed and comfort to their loved ones.

OBSERVERS TIMES also report that Governor Dauda Lawal has expressed his condolences to the families of the 17 students who lost their lives in the fire tragedy at the Almajiri School in Zamfara State.

On behalf of the Zamfara State Government, we extend our condolences to the families, the school, and the entire nation as we mourn the loss of these young souls.

“During this time of sorrow, may Almighty Allah provide strength and comfort to the grieving families as they navigate this difficult period. I extend my wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured.

“As a responsible government, we would examine the underlying causes of this fire and seek methods to prevent its recurrence in the future.

“We will provide all necessary support and assistance to the victims’ families.”
