Supporters of former Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, have renewed calls for his return to the National Assembly, urging him to contest for President of the 11th Senate amid growing dissatisfaction with the current leadership.
The appeal, which has gained traction on social media and within political circles, reflects what proponents describe as widespread frustration among Nigerians with the leadership style of Senate President Godswill Akpabio. According to them, the upper legislative chamber requires firmer, more inclusive leadership to effectively address the country’s pressing political and economic challenges.
Advocates of Dr Saraki argue that his previous tenure as Senate President demonstrated legislative experience, stability and the ability to manage diverse political interests. They believe these qualities are urgently needed to restore confidence in the Senate and strengthen its oversight role.
While no official response has been issued by Dr Saraki, the calls underscore ongoing debates about leadership within the National Assembly and the broader expectations of Nigerians for a more assertive and credible legislature.
The development adds another layer to the evolving political discourse ahead of the consolidation of the 11th Senate, as citizens and stakeholders continue to push for reforms and leadership they believe can better serve national interests.
