The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has dismissed reports suggesting that a cadet identified as Gani is missing, describing the claims as false and misleading.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Academy said the cadet is fully accounted for and remains within the institution’s established administrative and training framework. It stressed that there has been no breach of security or unexplained absence involving any cadet of that name.
According to the NDA, routine processes govern the movement, posting and welfare of cadets, and any temporary absence for official or authorised reasons is properly documented and monitored. The Academy warned that unverified reports could cause unnecessary panic among families and the general public.
The NDA urged members of the public and media organisations to seek clarification from official channels before publishing sensitive information relating to cadets or military institutions. It reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, discipline and the safety of all personnel under its care.
The Academy added that it would continue to provide accurate updates when necessary, while taking appropriate steps to address the spread of misinformation.
