A former presidential aspirant of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Mathias Tsado, has urged former President Goodluck Jonathan to consider running for office again in the upcoming 2027 presidential elections, stressing that Nigeria urgently needs his leadership.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Tuesday, Tsado, who was also the presidential candidate of the Liberation Movement in 2019, emphasized that Jonathan’s return to the presidency is not merely a political move but a necessary step to rescue Nigeria from its ongoing economic and security crises.

“We need him back in 2027,” Tsado declared. “This is not about politics; it’s about saving Nigeria. He has the experience, the temperament, and the vision to lead us back from the brink.”

Tsado praised Jonathan’s previous tenure, highlighting the significant democratic reforms and the strong foundation he left behind. He argued that those reforms could be revitalized to restore stability to a country grappling with mounting challenges. Tsado also pointed out that Jonathan continues to be viewed by many Nigerians as a unifying figure.

His call to action comes at a time when speculations about potential candidates for the 2027 presidential race are circulating. Although Jonathan has not yet indicated any intention to run, Tsado believes that the former leader is still Nigeria’s best hope for recovery.

Tsado urged Jonathan’s close associates and political allies to make a concerted effort to convince him to contest the election, warning that the country is at a critical juncture. “Those around him should speak to him with one voice. Nigeria needs him now more than ever. His leadership style is exactly what this country needs to calm tensions and direct the economy toward growth,” he added.
