Boomplay, Africa’s premier music streaming platform, has unveiled its Top 10 Albums for August and September 2025, with major wins for Nigerian global sensation Burna Boy, emerging talent Famous Pluto, and breakout artist Modola. The rankings, based on streaming data from January to September 2025, reflect a powerful shift in the African music scene.

Burna Boy’s “No Sign for Weakness” continues to dominate, a testament to his international influence, as he seamlessly blends Afro-fusion with thought-provoking, socially conscious messages. “His work speaks to the global audience, reinforcing his place in the international music landscape,” a Boomplay spokesperson said.

Famous Pluto, who has been hailed as a rising star in the Afrobeats scene, clinched the second spot with his project Uzama The 3rd. The album is a reflection of his creative prowess and is already being hailed as one of the best debut releases of the year. Pluto’s unique style and fresh approach have earned him the attention of Afrobeats enthusiasts across the continent.

At number 3, Black Sheriff’s “Iron Boy” adds to his growing legacy, following his initial success with The Villain I Never Was. This album continues to solidify the Ghanaian artist’s influence in the Pan-African music movement, delivering an intense, high-energy experience that resonates deeply with listeners.

Modola’s rise to fame was cemented with her debut album New Light, which secured the 9th position on the list. Known for her viral TikTok hit “Talk”, the singer’s project showcases her artistic depth and maturity, signalling a promising future in the music industry.

Boomplay’s rankings emphasize the diversity and expanding reach of Afrobeats in 2025. Industry experts observe that the list highlights the increasing blend of established artists with newer voices, reflecting the dynamic changes in global music consumption. “Afrobeats is evolving, and the audience is now embracing a wider range of sounds,” said an industry observer.
