The President of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA), Dr. Safiyyah Hassan Shaibu, has reaffirmed her association’s commitment to youth development and national service.
Dr. Shaibu made this pledge on Wednesday during a courtesy visit by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mr. Samson Ateli, to the NAOWA National Secretariat in Abuja.
Speaking during the session, Dr. Shaibu underscored the vital role the NYSC plays in fostering national unity and mentoring responsible citizens. She assured the delegation that NAOWA would continue to prioritize initiatives aimed at improving the welfare and capacity building of corps members nationwide.
“Strategic partnerships are essential for sustainable youth empowerment,” Dr. Shaibu stated, adding that NAOWA is ready to deepen its collaboration with the NYSC to create a lasting positive impact on the lives of young Nigerians.
Earlier, the FCT Coordinator, Mr. Samson Ateli, congratulated Dr. Shaibu on her emergence as the 25th President of NAOWA, following the appointment of her husband, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, as the Chief of Army Staff (COAS).
Mr. Ateli commended NAOWA’s consistent support of the scheme and appealed for continued cooperation to strengthen the impact of the NYSC on the nation’s youth. The visit concluded with an exchange of souvenirs and a commitment to advancing national integration.
