President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HOCSF), with effect from 27 August 2026.
Mr Enitan, currently the most senior Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service, will succeed Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who is due to retire after attaining the statutory retirement age of 60.
The appointment places Mr Enitan at the helm of Nigeria’s federal civil service, where he will be responsible for providing administrative leadership and coordinating the implementation of government policies across the public service.
His appointment comes as Mrs Walson-Jack prepares to conclude her tenure following her attainment of the mandatory retirement age.
The transition is expected to take effect on 27 August, marking a change in leadership at one of the country’s most important institutions for public administration.
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation plays a central role in strengthening professionalism, efficiency and accountability within Nigeria’s federal public service.
