Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has appointed iconic Nigerian musician Innocent Ujah Idibia, widely known as 2Face or 2Baba, as his Technical Adviser for Entertainment and Community Outreach. The announcement was made today, Wednesday, April 23, 2025.
Governor Alia unveiled the appointment at Government House in Makurdi, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to utilizing entertainment as a tool for community development and engagement.
2Face, a celebrated artist and a native of Benue State, is expected to leverage his national and international profile to elevate the state’s image.
“This is a new dawn for Benue,” Governor Alia stated. “Innocent Idibia is not just a music icon; he is a son of the soil with a deep connection to our people. His voice and vision will inspire our youth, bridge communities, and showcase Benue’s rich talent to the world.”
The governor highlighted the potential of entertainment to drive economic growth and foster social cohesion, areas where 2Face’s influence is anticipated to have a significant impact.
Expressing his gratitude, 2Face said, “I’m honored to serve my people in this capacity. Benue has given me so much, and this is my chance to give back—using music, entertainment, and outreach to uplift our communities and tell our story.”
The 49-year-old artist, who first gained prominence with the group Plantashun Boiz before a successful solo career, is expected to utilize his extensive network and creative expertise in his new role. Governor Alia, who assumed office in May 2023, is seen to be adopting an innovative approach to governance by integrating cultural influence with public service.
