The Nigeria Court of Appeal has announced a significant redeployment of justices to various divisions across the country, with the new postings effective from May 5, 2025. This decision is outlined in a posting list dated April 22, 2025, and signed by M. B. Dongban-Mensem, President of the Court of Appeal.
Among the notable appointments, Hon. Justice Y. Nimpar will serve as the Presiding Justice in the Lagos Division, joined by Justices J. E. Ekanem, F. A. Ojo, D. Z. Senchi, P. A. Bassi, N. U. Okaisabor, P. T. Kwahar, Abdulazeez M. Anka, and U. Onwosi.
In the Kaduna Division, Hon. Justice O. A. Otisi has been appointed as Presiding Justice, alongside Justices A. O. Obaseki-Adejumo, A. M. Bayero, S. O. Nwaka Gbagi, and M. S. Hassan.
Hon. Justice B. A. Georgewill will lead the Ibadan Division, supported by Justices Ebiowei Tobi, K. I. Amadi, B. F. Zubairu, and Fadawu Umaru.
In Abuja, Hon. Justice H. A. Barka will serve as Presiding Justice, with Justice Eberechi S. Nyesom-Wike, wife of the Federal Capital Territory Minister, remaining in the division. Other justices in Abuja include Hon. Justices B. B. Aliyu, A. I. Banjoko, A. B. Mohammed, O. E. Abang, D. U. Okorowo, and O. O. Oyewumi.
The redeployment extends to divisions such as Jos, Port Harcourt, Kano, Calabar, Ilorin, Owerri, Sokoto, Yola, Ekiti, Akure, Makurdi, and Asaba, with Hon. Justices assigned as Presiding Justices in each.
Notably, the Awka and Gombe Divisions will not have judges allocated. Appeals from Awka will be heard in either Enugu or Asaba Divisions, while appeals from Gombe will be heard in Maiduguri Division.
Additionally, justices from the Ilorin Division will sit for one week each month at the Ibadan Division, and those from the Ekiti Division will also sit for one week each month in Akure.
Justices are expected to report to their new divisions by May 5, 2025. This redeployment will not affect the schedule of special panels, which will proceed as planned.
