Bayern Munich triumphed with a commanding 3-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt, further strengthening their lead at the top of the Bundesliga table. Colombian forward Luis Diaz was the star of the show, scoring a quick-fire brace, including the third-fastest goal in Bundesliga history.
The match kicked off at lightning speed, with Serge Gnabry intercepting a loose pass from Frankfurt to set up Diaz, who slotted the ball past goalkeeper Kaua Santos within the first 15 seconds. Frankfurt responded with a stunning long-range effort from Jean-Matteo Bahoya, but it was ruled out after VAR confirmed a handball by Ritsu Doan in the build-up.
As the first half progressed, Bayern continued to dominate. Harry Kane, the England captain, doubled Bayern’s lead in the 27th minute, driving a low shot into the bottom left corner from outside the box. Kane’s 11th league goal in just six games this season proved pivotal, though he collided with Santos late in the second half, limping off the pitch. Kane, however, assured fans that the injury was minor and expressed confidence in being fit for international duty next week.
With just six minutes left in the match, Diaz completed his brace, sealing the win with his sixth goal in 10 appearances since his summer transfer from Liverpool.
Bayern now holds a four-point lead over second-placed Borussia Dortmund, who were held to a 1-1 draw at home by RB Leipzig earlier in the day. The match saw Leipzig’s Christoph Baumgartner score early, with Dortmund’s Yan Couto equalizing. Despite Dortmund’s late chances, including a missed header from Julian Brandt, they had to settle for a draw, leaving them one point behind Bayern.
In other Bundesliga action, Bayer Leverkusen won 2-0 against Union Berlin with goals from new signings Ernest Poku and Christian Kofane. Meanwhile, Werder Bremen defeated St. Pauli 1-0, and Augsburg triumphed 3-1 over Wolfsburg.
