Shehu Buba Umar, the senator representing Bauchi South in Nigeria’s 10th Senate, has purchased the N50 million governorship nomination form of the All Progressives Congress (APC), formally declaring his intention to contest in the party’s primaries in Bauchi State.

The move positions Umar among key contenders seeking the APC ticket ahead of the state’s next governorship election, as political activity intensifies within the ruling party.

While details of his campaign strategy remain limited, the purchase of the nomination form is widely seen as a significant step in Nigeria’s electoral process, where aspirants must secure party backing before proceeding to the general election.

Party officials are yet to release a full list of aspirants, but the development underscores growing competition within the APC in Bauchi, a state expected to witness a closely contested race.
