A Bauchi State High Court has granted bail to the state’s Finance Commissioner, who is facing allegations of embezzling N5.7 billion, local media reported on Thursday.
The commissioner, whose name has not been disclosed in the court documents, was arraigned on charges of financial misconduct, accused of misappropriating funds meant for state projects.
During the hearing, the court ordered the release of the official on bail pending the conclusion of the trial. Conditions of the bail include surrendering the commissioner’s passport and regular reporting to the court.
