The All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a strong warning to Nigerians, urging them to prevent the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from regaining power in the upcoming 2027 elections. The ruling party criticized the opposition for its ongoing leadership crisis, suggesting that the PDP is on the brink of political extinction.

Bala Ibrahim, the National Publicity Director of the APC, expressed these sentiments during an interview with Sunday PUNCH. He argued that Nigeria continues to suffer from the alleged mismanagement of the PDP’s 16-year rule. “That party is gone,” Ibrahim stated. “Are these the clowns people are taking seriously to rule this country again? Believe me, this is just the beginning. We at the APC are enjoying the entertainment.”

Ibrahim further criticized the PDP’s ability to manage itself, attributing the party’s issues to divine intervention that removed them from power. He invited PDP members to learn effective political strategies at the APC Progressive Institute, an initiative started by APC’s National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje.

Responding to allegations that the APC might be contributing to the PDP’s internal crises, Ibrahim dismissed such claims. “How is the APC responsible for the crisis that is happening at Wadata Plaza (PDP headquarters in Abuja)? We are not even staying close. So, how can they blame us for their woes?” he questioned, emphasizing that the turmoil within the PDP is self-inflicted and has no ties to the APC.

In the midst of these political tensions, the PDP held a significant meeting of its North East zonal caucus in Bauchi to discuss reconciliation and strategize for the future, particularly the 2027 elections. Notably absent from this gathering was former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. The meeting included the three PDP governors from the region—Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, Dr. Agbu Kefas of Taraba State, and Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State—along with members of the PDP Reconciliation Committee, senators, and other legislative representatives.
