The All Progressives Congress (APC) is gearing up for a decisive victory in the 2026 Osun State governorship election, according to Senator Iyiola Omisore, the party’s former National Secretary. Far from merely contesting, Omisore declared the APC’s unwavering resolve to claim the governorship, as he launched an extensive grassroots consultation to secure the party’s nomination.
In a polished statement from his media office, signed by Jamiu Olawumi, the former Deputy Governor underscored his commitment to due process and consensus-building. Omisore’s statewide tour aims to engage party loyalists and stakeholders, ensuring his candidacy reflects the collective will of the APC faithful.
“This isn’t just about ambition—it’s about strategic unity and clear-headed governance,” Omisore asserted. “Osun demands practical leadership now more than ever. We won’t settle for a candidate who merely shows up; we’re fielding a winner.”
During the consultation, Hon. Folorunso Oladoyin Bamisayemi, a former Commissioner for Education, praised Omisore’s pivotal role as APC National Secretary. He credited Omisore with averting internal party crises and steering the APC to secure President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as its 2023 presidential candidate. Bamisayemi also highlighted Omisore’s strong base in Ife, one of Osun’s four largest voting blocs, noting his consistent financial and strategic support for the party, including backing reinstated local government officials across the state.
Hon. Olanrewaju Balogun, Chairman of Ilesa East LGA, hailed Omisore’s campaign as a “unity agenda,” predicting that his ongoing consultations signal the start of a “rescue mission” for Osun. The tour included a high-profile courtesy visit to Chief Akinwande Ayinde Akinola, the Sawe of Ilesa, at his Ijamo residence, where discussions solidified a shared commitment to advancing Osun’s future.
