Nigeria’s ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), has confirmed that its presidential primary for the 2027 general election will be held on May 23, 2026, firmly rejecting reports suggesting a postponement.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, described circulating claims on social media and other platforms alleging a change in schedule as false, misleading, and without official backing.

The APC stressed that its timetable for selecting a presidential flagbearer remains unchanged, urging party members and the public to disregard what it called deliberate misinformation aimed at creating confusion within its ranks.

The clarification comes amid growing political speculation over the party’s internal preparations ahead of what is expected to be a highly competitive primary season.
