West Ham United have confirmed that Michail Antonio will leave the club after ten years of service.
The 35-year-old forward has not featured since December when he was involved in a serious car crash that left him with a badly broken leg.
Although the Jamaica international has expressed hope of returning to football, West Ham said he will not continue with them as a player.
“Michail will always be a much-loved and respected member of the West Ham United family,” the club said in an official statement on Thursday. “As has been the case since December, the club will continue to support and assist him in his ongoing rehabilitation, offering him access to training, facilities and medical care if needed.”
Antonio joined the Hammers in 2015 and scored 83 goals in 323 appearances. He holds the record as the club’s top scorer in the Premier League era.
The club also revealed it is in talks with him about a possible non-playing role in the future.
“Everyone at West Ham United would like to sincerely thank Michail for his outstanding, dedicated service in a claret and blue shirt over the last ten years,” the statement added.
Antonio was part of the West Ham side that lifted the UEFA Europa Conference League trophy in 2023, ending the club’s long wait for silverware since 1980.
