The Adamawa State Chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called on all its supporters, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Babachir Lawal, to formalise their membership by registering at their wards.
ADC State Chairman, Shehu Yohanna, made the appeal in Yola on Friday during the official flag-off of the party’s membership registration exercise.
He said: “Even our coalition leaders like Atiku and Babachir must go back to their wards to register. Until then, they cannot be regarded as bona fide members with a voice in the party.”
Yohanna stressed that possessing an ADC membership card remains the only legitimate basis for exercising influence within the party, describing it as essential to strengthening internal democracy.
The chairman appealed to stakeholders and coalition partners to take part in the registration, pointing out that the ADC, which has been in existence since 2002, has consistently provided Nigerians with an alternative political platform.
“ADC has come to stay,” Yohanna declared, expressing confidence that the party and its coalition partners are well-positioned to offer a credible alternative capable of addressing Nigeria’s socio-economic challenges.
A spokesperson for Atiku confirmed that the former vice president is expected to finalise his registration as part of the party’s renewed efforts to consolidate its base.
