Former Inspector-General of Police Mohammed Abubakar Adamu has dismissed speculation that he plans to defect from the ruling party following Governor Abdullahi Sule’s endorsement of Senator Aliyu Wadada for the 2027 governorship election.
In a firm statement, Adamu described the claims as “false,” insisting he remains a committed member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and will pursue his gubernatorial ambition within the party.
“Reports suggesting I will leave the APC are untrue,” Adamu said. “I will stay and contest till the very end.”
His remarks come amid growing political tension in Nasarawa State after Governor Sule publicly backed Wadada, a move seen by analysts as shaping the early dynamics of the 2027 race.
Adamu’s declaration sets the stage for a potential intra-party contest, signaling that the APC may face a competitive primary despite the governor’s preferred candidate.
