Pastor Abel Damina of Abel Damina Ministries and Power City International challenges popular beliefs about the sin of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. In his New Year’s Eve sermon, he questions the idea that their sin was caused by eating fruit from the forbidden tree.
Damina’s argument, based on Mark 7:18-21 in the Bible, suggests that what people eat or drink does not determine their sinfulness. He emphasizes that it is not the act of consumption that makes someone a sinner.
In his sermon, Damina goes on to state that smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol are not sins, further asserting, “I’ve told you alcohol is not a sin. I’ve told you cigar is not a sin. If you like put it on newspaper headline, I said it.”
