The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has reaffirmed its position of political neutrality as Nigeria approaches the 2027 elections. While acknowledging the right of its members to individual political views, the Forum declared it will not endorse or align with any political party.
ACF Chairman, Mamman Osuman (SAN), made this declaration at the Forum’s 78th National Executive Committee meeting held in Kaduna on Thursday. He emphasised the Forum’s commitment to collaborating with like-minded organisations while maintaining a firm stand against political corruption and deceit.
Osuman called on northern leaders and citizens to be united and vigilant amidst rising insecurity, political betrayal, and environmental disasters threatening regional stability. He warned against complacency and the spread of misinformation within the North’s socio-political leadership.
He lamented the continued challenges faced by the region, stating, “We have lost children, middle-aged men and women, and the aged to natural causes, floods, drowning, and to criminals, bandits, terrorists, and marauders. Our pains as a region are a major concern for the ACF, for which I ask for introspection and prayers.”
The ACF has previously raised concerns about marginalisation of the North in federal budget allocations and infrastructure development under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, despite the region’s significant electoral support.
