The Accord Party has defeated the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the polling unit of former Osun State Deputy Governor and former APC National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore, in Saturday’s governorship election.
Results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) Result Viewing Portal (IReV) showed Accord securing 131 votes at Polling Unit 003, Ife Ward 1 (Moore), St Gabriel Primary School, in Ife East Local Government Area.
The APC polled 85 votes to finish second, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) recorded 10 votes. Other parties received only marginal votes at the polling unit.
The result gives Accord a 46-vote lead over the APC at a polling unit associated with Omisore, a prominent figure in Osun politics and former senior official of the APC.
The outcome is among the early results emerging as counting and collation continue across the state.
Accord had earlier recorded another notable victory at the polling unit of former Osun governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, in Okuku, Odo-Otin Local Government Area, where it secured 125 votes against the APC’s 85 and ADC’s five.
INEC is continuing the uploading and collation of results from polling units across Osun State, with the final governorship outcome yet to be declared.
