The Nigerian military has recorded another significant operational victory following the elimination of Abu Khalid, a senior commander of the Boko Haram terrorist group, during sustained clearance operations in the North-East.

Security sources confirmed that Abu Khalid, described as a key operational leader responsible for coordinating attacks and logistics for the insurgent group, was neutralised in a coordinated military offensive targeting known Boko Haram enclaves.

The operation forms part of ongoing intensified clearance missions aimed at dismantling the remaining strongholds of terrorists across the region. Troops reportedly engaged the insurgents after credible intelligence led them to the hideout where the commander was operating.

Military authorities said the success represents a major setback for Boko Haram’s command structure and operational capability, as Abu Khalid was believed to play a crucial role in planning attacks and enforcing the group’s control over local communities.

In recent months, the armed forces have sustained pressure on terrorist elements in the North-East through a combination of ground assaults, air operations and intelligence-led raids, resulting in the neutralisation of several high-profile insurgent leaders.

The military reaffirmed its commitment to restoring lasting peace and security in the region, assuring Nigerians that operations will continue until all terrorist networks are completely dismantled.
