A prominent community figure, Sumaila Mohammed Attah Enjema, has formally announced his intention to contest the 2027 general elections to represent Ankpa II State Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly.
In a statement released to supporters and community leaders, Enjema said his decision followed over a year of consultations, encouragement and appeals from various groups and residents across the constituency.
“Over the past 13 months, I have received many calls, messages and visits from the good people of Ankpa II, urging me to step forward and represent them,” he said. “After deep reflection, wide consultations and prayers, I have decided to answer this call.”
He described the growing support as both humbling and motivating, noting that he interpreted it as a vote of confidence in his longstanding commitment to community service.
“For me, it has always been about service,” he said. “This decision is not driven by personal ambition, but by a strong sense of duty to give back, to listen and to work for the progress and wellbeing of our people.”
Enjema pledged to prioritise unity, inclusive representation and grassroots development if elected, promising to serve with “sincerity, dedication and the fear of God”.
He also reaffirmed his loyalty to the All Progressives Congress, expressing confidence that the party would emerge victorious in the constituency.
“Ankpa II is our home. Together, through unity and shared purpose, we can build a stronger and better future for our constituency,” he said.
The 2027 general elections are expected to reshape political alignments across Kogi State, with aspirants already positioning themselves ahead of party primaries.
