Real Madrid maintained their perfect start in the Champions League with a convincing win over RB Leipzig, thanks to goals from Silva, Arda Guler and Kylian Mbappe.
Silva, who joined Real Madrid from Manchester City in the summer, gave his team the lead two minutes before half-time. The midfielder scored from close range after Arda Guler’s shot deflected off a defender and went through goalkeeper Maarten Vandevoordt’s legs.
Guler made it 2-0 in the second half by tapping the ball into an empty net after receiving a cross from Kylian Mbappe.
Mbappe then scored his 12th goal in 12 matches this season with a curling shot from outside the penalty area that found the corner of the net.
Leipzig created several chances in the first half but failed to score. Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois made important saves to stop efforts from Christopher Nkunku and Romulo.
Vandevoordt also produced a fine save early in the second half to deny Federico Valverde, whose powerful shot threatened to extend Real Madrid’s lead.
