An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Yakubu Sani, has urged the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to stop using public events to attack state governors and instead focus on improving the welfare of workers and residents of Abuja.
Mr Sani said commissioning ceremonies for roads, bridges and other infrastructure should be used to highlight development rather than provide platforms for political exchanges.
He urged the former Rivers State governor to emulate Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, whom he said had focused on governance and avoided what he described as unnecessary attacks on political opponents.
“Wike should learn from Uzodimma,” Mr Sani said, arguing that the FCT minister should allow the quality of projects delivered under his supervision to speak for his performance.
He also called for greater attention to the welfare of teachers, healthcare workers and civil servants in the FCT.
According to him, infrastructure development should go beyond roads and bridges to include access to water, improved public services and better working conditions for government employees.
“You cannot build beautiful roads and bridges and ignore the people who teach our children, treat our sick and run the machinery of government,” he said.
Mr Sani further urged Mr Wike to concentrate on the responsibilities assigned to him by President Bola Tinubu and reduce political confrontations with APC governors.
His comments come amid continued political exchanges involving Mr Wike and other members of the ruling APC, particularly over the direction of governance and political activities ahead of the 2027 elections.
