An airstrike has hit a large group of armed bandits reportedly moving from Zamfara towards Kebbi State, as Nigerian security forces engage the group in a fierce battle along the border.
Troops of the Nigerian Army’s COAS Intervention Battalion 3, under the 8 Division, alongside personnel of the Mobile Police Force and the Air Component of Joint Task Force Operation FANSAN YAMMA, are currently involved in the operation.
The security forces launched the offensive after the bandits were sighted moving towards the Zamfara-Kebbi axis, according to security sources.
The air component of the joint task force subsequently carried out an airstrike against the armed group as ground troops continued their operations in the area.
Details of casualties and the extent of damage caused by the airstrike remain unclear.
Security forces are expected to continue operations in the area as efforts intensify to prevent the armed group from advancing further into Kebbi State.
