Former Abia State Governor and senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, has declared that he would resign from the All Progressives Congress (APC) if President Bola Tinubu ever disrespects the Catholic Church.

Kalu, a prominent member of the ruling party, made the remark while reaffirming his commitment to the Catholic faith, stressing that his religious convictions remain above partisan politics.

According to the senator, his loyalty to the Church is unwavering, insisting that he would not hesitate to leave the APC should the President take any action that undermines or disrespects the Catholic Church.

The statement comes amid ongoing public discourse surrounding the relationship between political leaders and religious institutions in Nigeria, with Kalu emphasising the importance of mutual respect and religious tolerance.

His comments are expected to fuel political discussions, particularly within the APC, as they underscore the delicate balance between political allegiance and personal faith in the country’s evolving political landscape.
