President Bola Tinubu will soon announce a fresh salary increase for personnel of the Nigerian Armed Forces as part of efforts to improve their welfare and strengthen national security, the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (retd), has disclosed.
Speaking on the planned review, the Defence Minister said the forthcoming pay increase reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to rewarding the sacrifices of military personnel who continue to confront terrorism, banditry, insurgency and other security threats across the country.
He noted that President Tinubu remains committed to enhancing the welfare, morale and operational effectiveness of the nation’s troops, stressing that improved remuneration is one of several measures aimed at boosting the fighting spirit of soldiers.
According to the minister, the announcement will be made by the President in due course, adding that the administration recognises the invaluable contributions of the armed forces in safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity and protecting citizens.
The planned salary adjustment is expected to complement other ongoing reforms within the military, including improved welfare packages, better equipment and enhanced operational support for personnel deployed across various theatres of operation.
The Federal Government has repeatedly stated that strengthening the welfare of security personnel remains a key priority in its broader strategy to tackle the country’s security challenges and improve the effectiveness of the armed forces.
