The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to launch an immediate investigation into the alleged forgery and unauthorised use of documents purportedly issued by the electoral body, warning that such actions pose a serious threat to the integrity of Nigeria’s democratic process.

The demand follows claims by a rival faction within the party that it had successfully uploaded the names of the ADC’s presidential candidate and other nominees onto INEC’s nomination portal ahead of the elections.

Reacting to the development, the party maintained that the purported submission was carried out without its authorisation and raised concerns over what it described as the alleged manipulation and misuse of sensitive electoral documents. The ADC urged INEC to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the claims, identify those responsible, and ensure that anyone found culpable is brought to justice.

The party stressed that safeguarding the credibility of the electoral process is essential to maintaining public confidence in Nigeria’s democracy, insisting that any attempt to forge official documents or unlawfully access the commission’s nomination platform must not be allowed to stand.

The ADC further called on the electoral umpire to clarify the authenticity of the documents in question and reaffirm its commitment to transparency, accountability, and the rule of law as preparations for the forthcoming elections gather momentum.
