Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno has expressed confidence that the state will remain firmly behind President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections, insisting that the party has built a formidable political structure across the state.

Speaking on the party’s growing dominance in Akwa Ibom, Eno said the APC’s overwhelming presence at both the state and grassroots levels leaves little room for concern about its electoral prospects.

“We have no fear,” the governor declared. “We just concluded the primaries. I secured 392,000 votes, while President Tinubu received almost 400,000 votes. All three senators from Akwa Ibom are APC members, while 24 of the 26 members of the State House of Assembly belong to the party.”

Eno further highlighted the APC’s control of local government structures, noting that 30 out of the state’s 31 local government chairmen, alongside the majority of councillors, are members of the ruling party.

“These are the people on the ground doing the work and engaging directly with the people. That is why we are confident about our chances,” he said.

The governor also credited President Tinubu’s administration for extending development projects across the state, stating that federal funding has been made available for initiatives in all 31 local government areas of Akwa Ibom.

According to Eno, the combination of strong grassroots support, elected representation and ongoing federal-backed projects positions the APC favourably as preparations gradually begin for the 2027 elections.
