A prominent opposition voice, Oye, has criticised the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over what he described as a sharp rise in national debt, alleging that Nigeria has accumulated ₦65.9 trillion in borrowing within 24 months.

Oye claimed that the figure reportedly exceeds more than five times the total debt Nigeria accumulated over the past 55 years combined, raising concerns about the country’s fiscal direction and long-term economic stability.

The remarks add to ongoing public debate over the government’s borrowing strategy, infrastructure financing, and rising debt servicing obligations, though official responses to the allegation were not immediately included in the statement.
