Missiles have struck Ras Laffan Industrial City, one of the world’s most critical energy hubs, sparking fires and prompting a large-scale emergency response, authorities have confirmed.
QatarEnergy said the attack caused “significant damage” to facilities within the industrial zone, though no casualties have been reported as of the time of filing this report.
Emergency teams were swiftly deployed to contain the fires and assess the extent of the destruction at the site, which plays a central role in global liquefied natural gas (LNG) production.
The cause and origin of the missile strike remain unclear, and officials have yet to attribute responsibility. However, the incident is expected to raise concerns over the security of vital energy infrastructure in the Gulf region.
Ras Laffan Industrial City is a cornerstone of Qatar’s energy sector and a major supplier to international markets, making any disruption there a potential risk to global energy stability.
Authorities say investigations are ongoing, while efforts continue to secure the area and restore normal operations.
