Adamu Garba, a prominent political commentator and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has lauded President Bola Tinubu’s appointment of General Christopher Musa as Nigeria’s new Minister of Defence, declaring that terrorists must now “surrender or die” under the incoming security strategy.
In a statement shared via Politics Nigeria, Garba described the appointment as a turning point in the nation’s war against terrorism and banditry. He said General Musa’s track record as a decisive and uncompromising military leader makes him the right man to lead Nigeria’s defence architecture at a critical moment.
According to him, General Musa’s experience—particularly his past command roles in counter-insurgency operations—positions him to deliver the kind of “fearless, intelligence-driven and ground-shaking” defence reforms needed to restore stability across the country.
Garba asserted that under Musa’s leadership, non-state armed groups will face unprecedented pressure. He argued that the era of leniency and “soft-handed” engagement with violent extremists should be considered over.
He further urged Nigerians to support the new minister and the wider security apparatus as the administration intensifies efforts to reclaim communities affected by insecurity.
General Musa’s appointment has continued to generate reactions nationwide, with many observers expecting him to bring renewed energy to the nation’s fight against insurgency, organised crime and emerging security threats.
