Stanley Omah Didia, popularly known as Omah Lay, has described his debut Grammy nomination as “exciting” but insisted that awards matter less to him than seeing his close friend Davido take home the prize.
The singer picked up his first-ever Grammy nod for his feature on Davido’s track “With You,” which is listed in the Best African Music Performance category for the 2026 Grammy Awards.
Reacting on Instagram after the announcement, Omah Lay wrote: “I’m excited about this Grammy nomination haha but fr fr I don’t give a sh!t about awards. Yeah but I really want it for OBO! He is the realest friend I’ve had in a while, he stood by me during my hardest times.” The post quickly drew attention across social platforms and entertainment pages.
Davido and Omah Lay’s collaboration has been widely praised, and the single has helped both artists secure places on the 2026 nominations list alongside other African acts. Industry coverage lists “With You” among the contenders for the category, which this year also features artists such as Burna Boy, Ayra Starr and Tyla.
Davido himself remains yet to win a Grammy despite multiple nominations in recent years — a reality that appears to have motivated Omah Lay’s public show of support. The 68th Annual Grammy Awards are scheduled for 1 February 2026 at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
