Vice President Kashim Shettima has commenced a two-week annual leave following approval from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, marking the first official leave he has taken since assuming office in May 2023.
The leave, which takes effect today, was approved by President Tinubu in line with established government procedures. During the period, Vice President Shettima is expected to take a break from official duties before resuming his responsibilities at the end of the leave.
Since the inauguration of the Tinubu administration, Shettima has remained actively engaged in government business, representing the President at high-level meetings, diplomatic engagements, and national events, while overseeing several key assignments.
His leave comes after more than three years of uninterrupted service, making it his first official vacation since the administration assumed office.
No changes have been announced regarding the day-to-day operations of government, with the Presidency expected to continue its activities as scheduled during the Vice President’s absence.
