The Zamfara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticised the defection of Hon. Marahazu Salisu Faru, a member representing Maradun Constituency in the State House of Assembly, to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement released on Tuesday and signed by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Halliru Andi, the PDP said Faru’s decision did not come as a surprise but described it as “a choice driven by personal interest rather than the collective good of the people.”

According to the statement, “those who put personal ambition above the will and progress of the people often find themselves on the wrong side of history.”

The PDP accused the APC of plunging Zamfara and the country into hardship through “hunger, insecurity, and corruption,” noting that the people of the state still remember the “pain and neglect” they experienced under APC’s leadership.

The party commended Governor Dauda Lawal for his ongoing reforms and developmental strides, describing them as “proof that the PDP remains the party of progress, compassion, and accountability.”

“We are confident that Hon. Faru will soon regret his decision, as the people of Zamfara have already made up their minds to stand firmly with the PDP,” the statement read.

The opposition party urged its members to remain steadfast and united, assuring them that “no defection can shake our foundation or stop the will of the people.”
